Development of employee wellness and onboarding programs
As an HR Manager, I distinguished that managers were stressed, as the onboarding and training program was not streamlined and some employees were close to reaching burnout. Employees were not happy in their working environment. I focused on creating and implementing programs and policies that supported the needs of employees and the company. One of my most rewarding experiences was when I implemented a new employee wellness program. Through conducting a survey to understand what types of programs and resources our employees would find most helpful, I created a comprehensive wellness program that included mental health workshops, mindfulness sessions, access to a meditation app and a wellness stipend for employees to use towards gym memberships or other wellness activities. The impact of the program was significant. Employee engagement increased by 18% and absenteeism decreased by 11.5%. Additionally, 97% of survey respondents reported feeling supported by the company in managing their mental health and wellness, avoiding burnout and reducing stress. In another instance, I developed and implemented a comprehensive onboarding program for new hires in a high-growth environment. By working with cross-functional teams and leveraging technology (HRIS) to streamline the onboarding process, I was able to improve employee engagement, as well as increase productivity and performance. As a result of the onboarding program, new employees were able to integrate into the company quickly and effectively. The onboarding program reduced time-to-productivity by 22% and improved employee retention by 24%. Furthermore, employee satisfaction with the onboarding process increased by 34.5%. To maintain a good company culture as a company grows, it's important to clearly define and communicate the company culture, model the desired behaviors and values, foster open communication, invest in employee development, hire for culture fit and recognize and celebrate employee achievements. By remaining true to the core values and behaviors that define the culture and prioritizing the development and engagement of employees, companies can create a positive and productive work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation and a sense of purpose among employees.
